The United Way of Santa Cruz County celebrated 211 Day on Wednesday with demonstrations of the hotline in Santa Cruz and Watsonville.
The hotline connects callers with more than 300 local community services, according to Mary Lou Goeke, executive director of the United Way.
It offers help for finding rent and mortgage assistance, food and shelter, job training, transportation, health care, senior services, legal aid, child care, veterans services and more.
Wednesday’s 11-minute positive demonstrations were aimed at raising awareness of the free and confidential assistance lifeline as it nears its fifth anniversary.
Trained call specialists are on call 24/7 and speak more than 150 languages.
